Gennadi

Gennadi is beautiful village in the South of Rhodes Island. It's an unspoiled agricultural village, 64 km from Rhodes town and 27 km from the ancient Lindos and 26 km from Prassonissi. 
Gennadi's main road and it's Square where everyone meets, is approximately 250 meters from the beautiful pebbled and sandy beach. This beach extends down to Plimiri 15 km away. This beach has restaurants and a cafe, and further along hotels with swimming pool surrounded by fields. 

The main village is about a mile from the mountains and hills, which contain many monasteries from previous centuries. There are three churches in the village, one before the 7th century named Agia Anatasia, the other is a picturesque church named St. Johns. The other is Vangelismou Theotokou a very small nice church. 
In the village you can find restaurants, bars, nightclubs, tourist & gold shops, supermarkets and bakery. Also Gennadi have a lot of facilities, a bus service and taxi service, chemist, paper shop (with foreign language news paper), community center with emergency services, car/bike rental & much more.
Please come and see the olive press museum and the attractively natural spring water taps throughout the village. Old men sit in the cafes, drinking their coffee and playing cards or backgammon and telling stories about the past. 

Most houses had their own wells and ovens in their courtyard to bake bread, there are still a few ladies that bake that way. Just over 400 people live here. The village provides over 1000 beds, in 25 Hotel/apartment blocks. Gennadi is a really nice, quite village, with very friendly people and very Greek in its way of life.
